About Erica

After years of chasing “the brightside”, Erica eventually realized it was a fool’s errand. She learned the hard way that there would always be another obstacle - and if she wanted to live a joyful life, it was up to her to choose how to show up.

“Brightsiding” was born as a way to reframe the journey — and it’s a philosophy dependent on being present to the glimmers, winks, and beauty around us every day.

On the social-media surface, Erica had it all, but there was something seriously lacking in her headspace

Which became clear to her after starting at Google in 2018 and crashing, hard.

This prompted Erica to explore things that would help get her back to her - therapy, writing, alternative forms of healing - and documenting it in a newsletter, sharing it out weekly alongside pop culture obsessions, product recommendations, and more.

Eventually her newsletter, The Brightside became so much more than just a creative outlet - but a lifestyle. In 2021 Erica turned #brightsiding into a workshop for Alphabet’s Mental Health Conference and has been helping teams at workplaces and schools find joy again.
